Tanger Med, the strait turned into a port
Facing Europe, Tanger Med has become one of the Mediterranean’s great container hubs, and Africa’s first.
A ship that chooses Tangier is a cold decision.
Tanger Med opened in 2007, on the Strait of Gibraltar. In less than two decades the site went from a project to one of Africa’s leading container ports, and one of the busiest in the Mediterranean.
The port is not only quays. Around it, industrial zones host cars, logistics, aerospace. Cities across the North work in its orbit.
It is a quiet pride, less photographed than a match, more lasting. A ship that chooses Tangier over another quay is a cold decision. It says where the Kingdom sits in the trade of the world.
Al Boraq would later tie this port to Casablanca. The works answer each other. That is how a held policy looks.
