Noor Ouarzazate, sunlight turned into a work
At the edge of the desert, the Noor complex made Ouarzazate one of the world’s great concentrated-solar sites.
The desert is no longer only a set. It is a tool.
Noor Ouarzazate stands where sunlight is a raw material. The complex, built in phases from 2016, combines parabolic troughs and a solar tower. It ranks among the largest concentrated-solar plants in the world.
The point is not the postcard. It is electricity, heat stored so production can continue after sunset, and an industrial skill Morocco chose to learn at home.
Ouarzazate, a city of cinema, becomes in the same movement a city of energy. The desert is no longer only a set. It is a tool.
In a journal of pride, Noor belongs because it is visible, measurable, and because it says something simple: Morocco does not only endure the climate. It uses it.
