Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, from Benguerir to Laayoune and Paris
A university turned toward Africa, phosphates, energy and agronomy — with a campus in the southern provinces and a branch in Paris.
A southern city that is not only a name in a speech.
Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, backed in particular by the OCP group, was built at Benguerir around a simple idea: research should serve Morocco and Africa. Mining, agriculture, energy, water, data, health.
The network did not stop at the main campus. There is Rabat. There is Laayoune, in the southern provinces: a university in the Moroccan Sahara is not a small symbol. And, in early 2024, a branch opened in Paris, UM6P France, for executive education and bridges to European schools.
Rankings and headcounts move. What matters for this house is elsewhere: students of more than twenty nationalities, many from Africa, learn in Morocco the trades the continent needs.
Scientific pride does not need an invented feat. It needs a door you can walk through, a laboratory that runs, a southern city that is not only a name in a speech.
